Pencil & hammered charcoal on aged paper by Dutch artist, Tom Roest, who transmits the alchemy he experiences during his inner journeys. His intuitive style is combined with the reuse of old materials, which he discovers on his search in the world of antiques. Tom reuses old paper then turns them over to create a new canvas, a new beginning. His intention is to stimulate the viewer’s curiosity and spirituality.
"As an artist, my earliest musings were about keys and their enigmatic allure. I took on the name Tommy Key and my signature, T.K., reflected this fascination. However, as I evolved, so did my signature, to ‘TR,’ which better encapsulates my true identity. Yet, the essence of a key still lingers in my heart. The act of discovery, the quest for hidden treasures, and the keys are the harbingers that unlock the unknown. But beyond their practicality, keys represent a quest. In my art, keys often symbolize an entry point to the profound revelations that life holds.
What I love most is the timelessness of it all. To me, they are whispers of revelations yet to come, depicted on an aged piece of paper, waiting to be discovered. In this artwork, I combined art and self to create one. Each ‘key’ likely has one big overarching ‘revelation.’"
The beauty of the blackened statue of Mother Mary continues to captivate me. Found during my adventures in the world of art-glass, the statue is a testament to its tumultuous past, marked with a small brass plaque bearing the text of the story of 1774, ‘The Stairs of Hope’ Chapel in France. As the soul’s survivor of the fire in the flock of France, its statue inspired my dedication to the art of charcoal (and my homage to its strength). The statue’s charred exterior speaks volumes of its endurance, reflecting all of the beauty that can arise from even the most difficult circumstances.

I grew up antiquing with my mom and grandma and freaking love it. When I found Litt Concept House our vibes just matched. They respect the integrity of old but have a fresh eye and though some of their pieces can be investment pieces, there really is something for everyone. I wanted to bring in some French and English influences to romance our space. They were able to bring in the drama with this insane Antique Bleached French Rosewood Floor Mirror. I also got a crystal desk lamp, bamboo side table and drink cart that are all stunning.
